Hi!
I’m Elvira Fernandez, an educator, author, and poet. I've been an ardent book lover since my school days, with romance, fantasy, and children’s literature topping my list of favorite reads. I took up writing seriously at the behest of my friends. I write in both English and Hindi for my YouTube channel. My initial works include ‘The Ferns and Blooms Trilogy’ – a fantasy series not just for children but for everyone who is a child at heart. My love for children and animals finds a special place in these three books. This series received The Nissim Excellence in Writing Award 2020 – Special Mention.
I’ve wielded my pen for numerous national and international competitions, newsletters, anthologies, and e-zines, earning several awards. The earliest was the first prize for an English essay in a competition organized by AINACS in 2019, and I received the Editor’s Choice Certificate for my story in the AILC 2020 organized by the Creative Post. ‘Bonding over Bond,’ the only newsletter dedicated to one of my favorite authors, Ruskin Bond, featured my article in the July – September 2021 issue. In 2022, my humorous short story ‘The Beleaguered Raven’ won second place in a competition organized by Rhyvers International. In 2023, a love story I penned became one of the top 20 stories to feature in Ruskin Bond's next book published by Rupa Publications. I was also recently invited once again by Akashvani Jaipur (Prasar Bharti) to air my views on Read and Lead after my first talk on The Power of Empowered Women (in the light of G-20). In January 2024, my story was one of the top seven stories chosen from around the globe in a short story competition organized by Writefluenza, and it features in their book – ‘Santa and the Snow Queen and More Winning Stories from Writefluenza 3.0.’
After acing fantasy, I took to writing romance. My first two romance novels – Gulmohar Love and Gulmohar Valentine – received a lot of appreciation, motivating me to pen yet another romance story. My sixth novel, a romance titled ‘Mistletoe Magic,’ was published on 14th February 2023, closely followed by my seventh novel, ‘Scrambled Love,’ on 15th December 2023.
