Face-to-Face
...with Pr. Enosh David
March 04, 2021

Pr. Enosh David is a music composer and a lyricist. In fact, he's multi-talented and a proud alumnus of St. Paul's Sr. Sec. School, Ajmer.
Elvira: You’re a singer, musician, music composer; you also work on video and audio editing. Phew! That’s a long list! What inspired you in this direction?

Pr. Enosh: (laughs) I would say that God has blessed me with His graces. I used to watch my uncle, Oblin David playing the keyboard and praising God in the church. These are my first memories of music and singing. I loved the hymns that were sung and cannot describe the joy they used to bring to me. In School, Sir G. Thomas took me under his wing. My first classes of music, singing and editing were under his guidance. I have been hugely influenced by him and have learnt a lot from him. (laughs) In fact, I still learn a lot from him whenever I meet him. I can never thank Sir G. Thomas enough for everything he has given me.

Elvira: How wonderful! Very few students are so vocal about their gratitude. So, you’re an alumnus of St. Paul’s Sr. Sec. School, Ajmer. What is your most memorable occasion of school life?

Pr. Enosh: (smiles) Yes, I’m a proud alumnus of St. Paul’s School, Ajmer. Every moment in school has been very special for me whether the morning assembly, the annual functions or even the classes. But the most memorable occasion of my school life which I will always cherish is the farewell of my batch. Over the years, I had been a part of many farewell functions as I used to be in the orchestra but the day I had to say goodbye to my school was an important occasion. I realized I will never be able to sit in the classrooms and learn anymore from my teachers. It suddenly occurred to me that from now on Life will be my teacher. I was sad to leave school but at the same time I was happy that my teachers had equipped me with many life lessons and it was time to put those into practise. (readjusts the watch on his wrist)

Elvira: (in admiration) Wow! What deep thoughts for a young student! And if I’m not mistaken you joined a renowned school in Ajmer as a music teacher that too just after finishing your schooling. What was your experience of being a teacher at such a young age?

Pr. Enosh: (laughs loudly) Ahh... yes! Absolutely correct! I left my school as a student and joined the school across the crossroad as a teacher. It was a wonderful learning experience. Initially I was terrified I would not be able to live up to everyone’s expectations but I trusted God’s plan for me. I came in touch with many wonderful students who were so talented and at same time respectful in spite of there being a very small age gap. I tried my best to share my knowledge in music with them. (leans back in the chair and crosses his legs) It used to be a moment of great pride for me when these students participated in competitions and won awards. I used to keep thinking of what I can do next to make my students shine more brightly. During this entire journey as a music teacher God was my Guide. He blessed my efforts and my students.

Elvira: God is great! Tell me, what makes you so passionate about music? Could you share any song you’ve composed, with us?
Pr. Enosh: (emphatically) Very true! God is great! Well, I can’t say I’m passionate about music. I would rather say that I’m inspired to praise and glorify God through music. He has blessed me with this talent and I try to explore it and expand my knowledge of it to bless His name. He should be glorified through my skills! I have composed and sung around eight songs. I also write lyrics for devotional songs. It gives me great joy to work on these songs and share it with those who believe in God’s love. Two of my most recent compositions are ‘Teri Stuti Karunga’ and ‘Meri Muraad’. I suggest you hear them when you have time.

Elvira: Amazing! Yes I will. What are your plans for the near future?
Pr. Enosh: (laughs) That’s a huge question, Ma’am. (thinks and replies) I plan to continue serving God through song and music. I have been a part of many cultural programmes in different schools and I hope to do so in the future also. I’m happy to be of assistance when schools call me and I try to give my very best. I hope that my son will also walk in my footsteps and will glorify God through the talents he receives.

Elvira: Amen! Thank you so much Sir for this interesting conversation. I wish you all the best for a remarkable future.
