Anxiety's Humming High
Sitting on a wooden chair
My heart seems to have travelled up a bit
The pulse in my throat is rapidly beating
Loud
My legs are violently shaking
Why won't they stop?
There's a constant 'beep' sound
Going from one ear to another and then back
Frequency kicking up a notch each time
A bead of sweat is sliding down my back
The room is caving in on me
Everyone's silent
Their lips moving
It's all in blur
The surroundings
It's just me here
There's a hum in my hands
Clasped together on my lap
My head's throbbing
I can feel my shoulders move to hunch over
But now's not the time
So I roll them back
Sitting up rod straight and decent
Hearing
Trying to concentrate
Blinking to shake the haze away
Breathing in calm
Out- 'I messed up'
In- 'I can fix it'
Out- the stress
Anxiety sings so well
But my confident self is back.
