A Dream...

I open my eyes

And look up at you.

I’m safe in your arms

I smile and you do too.

I can see my face reflected

In your dark eyes.

The sky changes shades

As Time swiftly flies.

I stand mesmerized

By the love in your eyes.

From pink to orange to purple

Time paints the skies.

From the heavens

The stars begin to look down.

Tiny pinpricks mirrored

In the sequins of my white gown.

Held close to your heart

I can feel your warmth

As this star climbs higher,

the Star of the North.

I can see my universe

In you...

I smile as I realize

You are my love true!

I can feel your hands

Through the flimsy lace on my back

I gingerly place my palms

On your shoulders fitted in black.

You tug me closer

To meet your tempting lips

As we stand on the soft green grass

One hand slips lower to my hips.

The trees around are decorated,

With fairy lights, they shimmer.

The air is fresh and fragrant.

A few fireflies in the shrubbery glimmer.

In the background

There’s this tall clock tower

A loud sound – a cracker!

Light bursts and splinters in a shower.

I turn my head

To look at the wondrous sight

I smile happily

To witness the display of light.

You follow my lead

And look up at the sky like me

We both smile

Enchanted by what we see.

I inhale your aftershave

As once again you bend your head

To capture my trembling lips

To kiss the woman you just wed!

Your lips touch mine softly

As you whisper, “I love you”

I lean into your warmth

Sigh and whisper, “I love you too!”

The clock in the tower, loudly chimes...

Well, this is the dream I dream sometimes!
