An Unexpected Visitor
So, last evening we had an unexpected visitor. As I sat in the living room reading a novel I saw this guy quietly walk into the veranda from the garden. Tail in the air he stepped cautiously and noiselessly on the tiled floor with the dark pupils of his yellow eyes taking in everything. I was more than astonished because something like this never happened before. Just as I gave a loud exclamation Whitu rushed at the surprised creature who immediately took to his heels. ‘Whoosh...’ he went like the wind after a tall cat.
And they both raced through the garden, under the vehicle in the garage and once again into the house through the back entrance and straight into the bedroom. Angry hisses and miaows could be heard. They jumped onto my bed, ran over the pillows, sent my diary and the pencil flying to the floor. They jumped down, skidded once and then raced out like bolts of lightning till the black and white fellow had ensured his safety by climbing up the Neem tree with leaps and bounds. Whitu wasn’t very happy with me for calling him back and trying to catch him (though it wasn’t possible with them running at a supersonic speed). His eyes trained on the panting cat sitting in the branches of the tree, tail twitching, he rebuked me. But soon I was dismissed because he was more interested in that creature which had intended to either be a thief or join the family.
The evening gradually gave way to dusk and then to darkness. The black and white feline had watched for a chance and made a quiet escape. Whitu, though wasn’t willing to leave his watch post hoping that fellow would come back and he would then give him a piece of his mind (probably claw off a piece of his flesh and fur too). I couldn’t let him sit there for eternity and finally managed to coax him into the house by serving him a delightful dinner. Whitu was reproachful but couldn’t resist the temptation of a hot meal. He generously allowed me to cuddle him later and I knew I had been forgiven. Phew! Unexpected visitors do bring a lot of disturbance.
