Happy Children’s Day

In the words of Jawahar Lal Nehru in whose honour we celebrate this day, "Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow."

Dear children,

You are the beautiful flowers that perfume the books of our lives! The analogy is perfect and therefore I wish to dedicate this Roseate Sonnet penned by me for you on your special day. This form of poetry was invented in 2015 by Dr. A.V. Koshy and was inspired by a rose.

Children, you’re precious!

If this whole wide world is a marvellous garden

Then you dear children are the roses, I’m certain

Beautiful fragrant blooms that make us smile

Enthusiastic, exuberant and extremely versatile!

You are the graceful flowers

Entrusted to our love and care

You nod and smile in the scented air

Each of you is fair and equally rare.

You’re precious and our pride

Let not anyone just brush you aside!

Remember life is for living! Ace every test!

Only this one chance, you have, to do your best

So what if you need to walk an extra mile?

Each one of you must continue with a smile.

Yes, at the moment we’re all going through testing, challenging times. The year started on a happy note but it unfortunately ‘caught’ a virus. From March the year has dragged on with much changing but still much more staying the same. It’s now November and we’re not sure on what note the year will come to an end. But you must persevere... do what you do best, bloom where you are. Let your fragrance reach those who are not as fortunate as you are. It’s a coincidence that today’s Diwali and therefore like bright little lamps ‘let your light shine’ always! Keep smiling! Keep rising and keep shining! Lots of love and good wishes to you!
