The Night Of New Hope
His life came to an end on the wood of a tree
On the wood of shame, He hung for all to see
Lonely, deserted by even His Heavenly Father
The Lamb of God sacrificed on the altar.
His bleeding, broken body was taken down
Laid gently in His mother's arms on the ground
Finally He was laid to rest in a tomb hewn from rock
A huge stone placed at the mouth of the tomb, to lock.
His disciples and His mother wept in the dark
It was the darkest of nights, sorrow was stark!
The Sabbath passed mourning for His death
They cursed those who had stolen His breath.
When the night descended once again
A stillness settled all over the plain
Pilate's soldiers fell into a deep-deep sleep
Their nightly vigil, they just couldn't keep.
The Moon flooded the scene with bright light
Suddenly an earthquake shook the site
The stone at the tomb's mouth rolled away
He stepped forth shining brighter than the day!
In the darkest hours of the darkest night
Rose the Savior, the Prince of life and light!
He defeated death and all its darkness
The affected soldiers rushed to report to authorities, heartless.
Angels sang and administered to the Son of God
The darkness of Night and Sin hastened away much awed.
Resurrection Sunday dawned with new hope
Giving humankind life to live, with new scope.
